PRISTINE MINI SKIRT WORKSHOP

Saturday 9th of November 10am-3pm (LUNCH 1-2pm)
Spend the afternoon with Pristine designer Kathryn Hewitson, and the Fabrika team, to make your very own mini skirt in a choice of signature Headliner print, Pristine wool tartan, or a timeless plain black wool silk blend.
This hands-on, one-day workshop is designed for fashion enthusiasts eager to create their own basic mini skirt in their choice of size and fabric. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some sewing experience, this workshop provides the perfect opportunity to enhance your skills and craft a unique piece of clothing.
WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
This class is suitable for beginner to intermediate level students! It would be great if you had used a sewing machine before, or might have sewed a while ago and want to remind yourself of the basic skills. It will also work for more confident sewers.
WHAT WILL THIS COURSE COVER?
Introduction to Sewing Machines: Learn the basic functions and Understand how to set up your machine, thread it correctly, and perform basic maintenance.
Cutting Fabric: Understand how to measure and cut fabric accurately. Learn how to read and use sewing patterns, including how to measure, cut, and prepare your fabric pieces accurately.
Sewing Techniques: Basic stitches, seam allowances, and finishing techniques.
Assembly: Master techniques for assembling the mini skirt, including joining pieces, creating clean seams, and adding details such as zip closures and facings.
Advanced Techniques: Apply finishing techniques to ensure a polished look, including hemming edges and securing seams. Make any necessary adjustments for a perfect fit and personalised touch, such as altering hem lengths or pattern matching across seams.
Final Fitting and Troubleshooting: Try on your top and make final adjustments to ensure it fits comfortably and looks great. Address common sewing issues and learn tips for solving problems that may arise during the sewing process.
Fabric, trims, thread, sewing machine, scissors, sewing kit, pattern will be provided.
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE HOME:
Your own Pristine mini skirt, and a newfound passion for sewing!
The workshop will take place in our manufactory situated at Design District area, just outside of North Greenwich station. The area is full of food stalls, bars and live music events in the evening and weekends.
